Advanced capabilities and simplicity in one sleek package? Yes. Montage does away with tracks. Instead, all media components share a single, infinitely expandable workspace with movable clips that can be freely and intuitively associated, edited and processed in place.
Montage was created for aspiring movie makers who literally think "outside the box", said Arboretum CEO, Georges Jaroslaw. "If you can see a movie in your mind, you can easily create it in our software by editing and placing clips in the workspace. The user interface is completely transparent."
Media clips can be imported or captured in real time from a FireWire DV camera using remote machine control, then freely arranged in the workspace to make movies.
When video clips are dragged on top of each other instant dissolves are created - clicking on the resulting connection graphic brings up a selection of fully editable professional compositors, transitions, and wipes. In addition, over a dozen video effects including edge detection, emboss, film noise, and color tint are available and can be applied to any video clip; a realtime preview box takes the guesswork out of adjusting effect parameters . Text boxes can be placed over video clips or keyed against an editable background with adjustable duration for scrolling.
With Arboretum's prestigious history as a music software developer, Montage's audio capabilities are second to none. Audio clips can be edited, arranged, stacked, and processed to generate stunning soundtracks. There is no track limit because . . . there are no tracks. The program comes with a wide variety of studio-quality effects from Arboretum's acclaimed Hyperprism engine, and more can be added via a flexible plug-in architecture. Users of other video programs who want to enhance their final movie with cutting-edge audio will find Montage an ideal complement to their current software.
Both audio and video can be easily time-stretched to accomplish anything from filling out a few seconds of a scene to creating awesome slow motion effects. Clips can be nudged forward or backward frame by frame, and locked to the timeline to prevent accidental shifts. And the Overview window makes it extremely simple to zoom in on any portion of a movie, plus move individual clips or even entire scenes at once.

five integrated modules which may be used separately or in combination for
a variety of audio restoration applications. These sections are Pop, Rumble,
Hum, Noise and Enhancements. You may use one, several, or all five stages
depending on the needs of your particular audio job.

POP - Ray Gun's Pop setting allows you to clean up scratchy vinyl LPs, remove static pops, repair spikes, fix clicks and remedy other types of transient noise. Ray Gun seeks out pops and clicks using a transient detection algorithm and fixes them automatically, interpolating neighbouring values.
RUMBLE - Rumble is often associated with vinyl LPs The Rumble filter is a low pass filter that cuts out everything below a lowcut adjustable frequency.
HUM - The Hum Filter module performs a simple notch filtering, using a very precise EQ setting which is user-adjustable. The hum is country dependent. The 60 Hz hum is the type of buzz caused by a ground loop or other AC interference when using a 60-cycle AC power. The 50 Hz hum is for Europe and other places that don't use 60-cycle AC power.
NOISE - The Noise Reduction section of Ray Gun Pro is meant to eliminate broad-band noise, including tape hiss, air conditioning or computer fan noise, and other varieties of wide-spectrum background noise. This function works best on noise which has a consistent "signature" (noise that always sounds the same, such as tape hiss) and is not intended for ever-changing noise like automobile traffic or wind on a microphone. Ray Gun Pro's Noise Reduction module utilizes a technique called downward expansion, derived from Arboretum's high-end Ionizer noise reduction system. Downward expansion is not magic, but it is a very effective technology in most instances involving noise with a consistent signature, and it's a far cry from simple equalizing or notch filtering. Make sure you are using headphones or a high-quality monitoring system.
ENHANCEMENT - The Enhancements section of Ray Gun Pro offers a classical bass/treble equalizer and a stereo enhancer. (Ray Gun Pro OSX only)
