Choose from a wide variety of styles or create your own, then use them over and over again. With Document Styles in Finale 2008, you can instantly personalize the appearance of new documents, controlling text and music fonts, all libraries, text, graphics, and page layout. Simply select a Document Style on the first screen of the Set-up Wizard to get the visual results you want, and save time.
It's easy to create your own Document Styles. Just copy a completed Finale file (including notes) into the Document Styles folder and its settings become the basis for a new Document Style. Finale automatically knows what items pertain to the style, and which, like notes, do not. The next time you visit the Set-up Wizard you'll be able to select your new Document Style.

Finale now imports scanned SmartScore 5.3 and SharpEye files, capturing notes, text, lyrics, chord symbols and more. (While SharpEye is Windows only software, the Music XML files it creates can be read by Finale on Macintosh and Windows computers)
Finale can import and export MusicXML files-right from the File menu and the launch window. Unlike MIDI files, MusicXML allows you to transfer the sounds and graphical elements in your file to other applications.

Finale SongWriter 2007 is a new version of their popular entry-level music notation software. SongWriter allows users to quickly and easily compose and arrange music, hear their work and print premium-quality sheet music. This latest version runs natively on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macintosh as well as Windows computers.
Created for songwriters of all levels, including those who may be new to notation software, Finale SongWriter offers a large array of powerful but easy-to-use features. Notes can be entered via a computer keyboard, a MIDI keyboard or by importing MIDI files. Users can effortlessly add key and time signatures, lyrics, chords, guitar fingerboards, markings and musical instructions.

MakeMusic (formerly Coda Music) the music education technology company and Conn-Selmer, Inc., the US's largest manufacturer band instruments, announced today that they are entering into a multi-year marketing partnership. Conn-Selmer will be bundling MakeMusic's SmartMusic® with all of its student instruments. These instruments represent the largest segment of the student instrument category. This is an OS X version only including support for OS 10.3 Panther. We are already focusing our full attention on our next project, Finale 2004b, which will support OS 9 and offer additional improvements. All registered users of Finale 2004 for OS X will be able to download the 2004b updater from our website, or request that it be sent to them for a modest shipping and handling charge. If you choose to wait until we ship the OS 9 version, all the improvements of 2004b will be sent to you on your initial CD. Among these will be support for EPS Export (and the ability to compile PostScript listings) that will not be in the initial release of 2004 for OS X. This initial release fully supports high-resolution TIFF and PICT Import and Export, as well as EPS Import.
