Diamond Cut Audio Restoration Tools is a Windows-based
program that gives you all of the software tools necessary to perform high
quality noise reduction. In addition, Diamond Cut is a powerful audio wavefile
editor for use in general audio applications. Diamond Cut is effective for
"cleaning up" old cylinder recordings, hill and dale Edison Diamond
Discs (verticals), old 78's (laterals), and of course, modern vinyl LP's
and 45 rpm records. DC-ART can be used for sound restoration, special effects,
forensic applications and other professional uses . Here's some noisy issues
Diamond Cut can address: need to hear the results of your noise removal
tools as the sound file is playing.Cut's solution the filter tools and effects
can be previewed in REAL TIME! You move the mouse, you hear the change.
Problem #1
You need to hear the results of your noise removal tools as the sound
file is playing.
Diamond Cut's Solution
All the filter tools and effects can be previewed in REAL TIME! You
move the mouse, you hear the change.
Problem #2
Master is recorded at a wrong or varying speed.
Diamond Cut's solution
Use the "Variable Speed Change Tool" to graphically adjust the
speed of the recording to compensate. The entire recording can be made faster
or slower, or the speed can be adjusted in REAL TIME! Notice (on the screen
shot below) that a very complex speed curve can be applied to overcome almost
any off-speed condition. In this example the speed will start out at 70%
faster then normal, quickly slow down to only 25% faster, and then slowly
rise again before starting another slow fall.
Problem #3
So much hum it can't be removed with a standard EQ or notch filter.
Diamond Cut's solution
The "Harmonic Reject Filter"! What happens? Those evil hums
are not perfect Sine waves but other noises masquerading as hums. While
working on this TYPE of noise there is a basic frequency of the hum or buzz
PLUS the harmonic overtones that must be dealt with. The Harmonic Reject
Filter notches out the basic frequency and, at the same time, removes up
to 500 harmonics in REAL TIME. Listen while you work...
Problem #4
Record an entire 6 song album side in one session, then split up the
individual tracks to pre-master for CD burning.
Diamond Cut's solution
Simply drop a marker on the wavefile where the tracks should occur. Fire
up the "Quantize for CD" function. Your markers magically move
to a position with a multiple of 2352 bytes, so perfect CD indexing is already
done. Next choose the Chop File Into Pieces function and voila, instant
CD Playlist.
Problem #5
After removing the noise from an original tape of a speech or sermon
the resulting wave file sounds "dead".
Diamond Cut's solution
A high quality, fully adjustable Reverb. And guess what...? The Reverb
can be adjusted while you listen in REAL TIME.
Problem #6
Never got around to signing up for that post graduate course in noise
removal?
Diamond Cut's solution
Diamond Cut is very easy to use, the manual offers both beginner and
advanced information. The next time "what is a sone Alex" comes
up on Jeopardy, consult the extensive reference material in the Diamond
Cut manual. Ok, more spot quiz questions...what's the fundemental frequency
range of an accordian? What recordings are best played back with a 7.4 mil
Spherical stylus? Don't know...open up the book!
Problem #7
Noise on the original sound file dominates the actual audio signal.
Diamond Cut's solution.
Here are a combination of tools that work best. First apply the "Continuous
Noise Filter" (best for wide band noise like rumble and surface noise)
using a sample of the noise. Then attack the result file with the "Bandpass
Filter" using it's REAL TIME capability to remove the remaining noise
above and below the frequencies of the audio you want to save.
Problem #8
After uncovering a fabulous tune buried under a ton of noise, a swish or
whooshing artifact is still audible.
Diamond Cut's solution
The
"Dynamic Noise Filter" is built on a "tracking algorithm"
that actually follows inter-modular noise (swish and whoosh for us commoners).
Preview the filter settings by ear in REAL TIME, then turn the filter loose
to finish the job.
Additional Features
Continuous Noise Filter--removes hiss (surface noise).
Dynamic Filter--removes hiss f>om audio signals.
Tunable Notch Filter--attenuates hum or acoustical feedback.
Harmonic Reject Filter--a new, powerful way to attack buzzes.
Reverb--"spice up" those old dead recordings with a professional
quality adjustable hall effect.
Continuously Variable Speed Change--for correcting off-speed masters.
Keep Residue Mode--listen to just the noise, in REAL TIME.
Make Waves--generates true Sine and Square waves for spectral analysis and
equipment testing.
Low, Band and High Pass filters with 1st, 2nd or 3rd order slopes.
10-band graphic equalizer to create better tonal balance.
Fade in, Fade out and Gain change functions.
Cut, Copy and Paste sections or entire wave files.
Spectrum analysis to aid in noise removal and frequency identification.
CD Quantization to create seamless CD master playlists.
Wave file playlist for creating master tapes.
Multiple markers with special features for easy CD pre-mastering
Save and recall settings for all filters.
Continuous and Adjustable gain changes with graphical editing.
Diamond Cut requires a 486 DX 33MHz or faster PC, at least 8 MB of RAM,
a 16 bit stereo sound card and Windows 3.x, 95 or NT 3.51 or 4.0.
